We questioned whether to use AI when ChatGPT was released in November 2022. But within a short period, AI has become so common that now we ask, which AI should we use?
I know you may think ChatGPT and Gemini are the best AI tools. But hang on a minute! What if I told you that I know some alternatives to these two?
Shortcuts:
No doubt! ChatGPT and Gemini are the major stakeholders in the AI market, but they can be expensive for new writers. I’ll give you some cheap or completely free options for content writing. So, let’s get to it:
The first one on my list is the sentence rewriter. Because this is one of my favorite tools. As writers, we create new lines sometimes; sometimes, we take content from other sources.
It makes our arguments stronger and our content richer. As Charles Spurgeon once said,
“All originality and no plagiarism makes for dull preaching.”
Hence, I’ve found that sentence rewriter is the best tool to avoid plagiarism when using others’ content. It offers multiple rewriting tones, allowing me to blend the taken content with my own.
For example, if I am writing in a formal tone and have to add some lines from an external source, I will rephrase it using the formal mode of this tool and then put it in my content, just like what I did in the following image.
Unlike a large language model, it requires no prompts or commands to do that. How simple is that! This tool has made my workflow much more efficient without asking for any registration and charges.
Claude is a large language model, just like ChatGPT and Gemini. Some employees of OpenAI left to start their own company, Anthropic, which later made Claude AI in March 2023.
This AI tool is said to have more reasoning capabilities by multiple online platforms. I have also experienced Claude giving much more reasonable and to-the-point answers than ChatGPT and Gemini.
I asked Claude, “How can I improve my writing skills?” The answer was to the point and relevant:
But when I asked the same question from ChatGPT, it generated a 1349-word-long answer. That long answer! I don’t even want to read it.
I prefer Claude over ChatGPT and Gemini because of this straightforwardness; I will still need to read a whole essay if I want to know about something. Just tell me what it is, and I am done.
Claude costs a little extra compared to its counterparts, but the time it saves me is much more valuable than some pennies.
As a writer, I have to do many things to make my work stand out from the rest of the crowd. Sometimes, I must be extra creative, like writing stories, poems, and jokes.
Stories and jokes are not much of a problem, but I am no good at writing poems. So, I use this AI poem generator tool when writing poems.
It makes poem writing look easy. I just have to define my topic and the way I want it to be written, choose the length and the creativity level.
Ernest Hemingway is one of the greatest writers of all time. If you are an aspiring writer, I assume you already know him. But do you know this web app was made in his loving memory?
Hemingway is an online editor who has helped me become a better writer. To be a good writer means that your content is readable to a broader audience.
Improvement in the readability of your content indicates that you are getting better at writing.
I always use this tool to get real-time insights into my writing. It highlights difficult words, grammatical errors, and hard-to-read sentences.
The readability scale of this tool tells what grade-level students can read my work, giving me an idea of whether my target audience can understand me.
As I was telling you how I incorporate somebody’s content in my writing for reference purposes, this is another app I utilize.
Sometimes, the content I want is too long to use. It complements my arguments, but I want to define it in a paragraph. So, I summarize it.
I use the text summarizer by Scribbr for this purpose. Not just because it's completely free but for its simplicity.
I just have to paste the content, set the length I want, and click summarize. It detects the keywords from my passage and then generates a much shorter version of that passage according to the keywords.
Remember the answer I got from the ChatGPT, that 1349-word essay it generated? Let’s see how much we can summarize that answer with this tool.
You can see how short our result is compared to the input, and I do not have to worry about plagiarism as this version has already been rewritten.
Summarization was never that easy for me before I started using this tool. So, I recommend all beginners use this tool and summarize their content accordingly.
Many people think that content writing will not be relevant in the future as AI is creating content much faster than we are. Honestly, I am afraid, too.
But now, AI tools are not sophisticated enough to take over content writing. Even search engines are not ranking AI content now, as the content AI generates is boring and fails to engage the audience.
I use AI to create initial drafts, outlines, and headlines for my content, but I do not put them as they are in my content. I modify them to match the flow of my work and complement it, not to make it less readable and boring.
After that, I check for any AI in my content using this AI detector. Because if it has AI, then my clients do not accept it, and if they do, it could get penalized by search engines.
This tool saves my reputation as a content writer by telling me the percentage of AI in my content before I submit it to my clients or upload it to a website.
Now, if there is AI in my content, what do I do about that? I reword the sentences highlighted by the AI detector.
For that, I use the rewording tool. I do not do it manually because it takes time—not that much but when I can remove AI by just copy-pasting the sentences into this tool and clicking “Reword,” why would I waste my time?
Moreover, it removes AI and helps blend the sentences into my content through the different modes it offers. I choose the tone I want for the output according to the style of my content.
Let me show you what I am talking about. Let’s reword the passage I used in the AI detector tool through this rewording tool and then recheck its AI.
Here is our result, so let’s check it against the AI detector.
See! How easy it is to humanize AI content with the rewording tool.
Besides AI, another thing that’s poison for content is plagiarism. I have already explained why we use somebody’s content in our work.
So when we do that, it is not just like copying content from an online source and pasting it word by word in our work. We do that, too, but that is done within quotation marks.
Most of the time, we rephrase the content we have taken to blend it with our own and cite it at the end of the article. That‘s the formal procedure to use someone’s content.
Writers have to keep the plagiarism level as low as possible before publishing their content; otherwise, it will lead to trouble. The content will be penalized, and the author can file a lawsuit against the writer.
To avoid all that, writers use plagiarism detectors to find any unwanted plagiarism in their content before publishing it.
I prefer the plagiarism detector by Turnitin. It costs $3 per year and requires a lot of personal information to register, but it is very accurate.
About a week ago, a student in my neighborhood asked me to check for plagiarism in his thesis. I used this tool on his thesis and found this:
Every line that he took from any external source was highlighted. He got only 13% plagiarism, which should be good to go, but I didn’t know the standards of his university. I shared the results with him and told him how to avoid plagiarism.
I like writing stories. It is my favorite type of writing. I enjoy doing it, but not always. Sometimes, I have to come up with a story quickly, like in a few minutes or so. And man, I hate those times!
That’s when I got help from the story generator. This tool works wonders. Whatever I have in my mind, like a character, a plot, a scenery, or a word, I paste it, and this tool creates a story around my description.
Let’s ask something unusual from it. Let it be, “Write a story in which a girl becomes an astronaut to go to a planet made with cheese,” and the settings will be “Short” as the length and “Creativity” as high.
Just as I told you, it can create a story from anything. So, it is a great alternative to ChatGPT and Gemini in creating stories with a particular genre.
In the initial stages of becoming a content writer, you may not have to worry about keyword density. But in the later or advanced stages, you must keep an eye on the words you use while writing content.
Keyword density and readability matter a lot in SEO optimization. I use the word counter to get insights into my content’s keyword density.
Whenever I am done writing the content, I always pass it to this tool so I know how many times I have used a single word.
If I pass a sample into this tool:
You can see how often I have used a single word in this sample passage. The words that I have used many times, like “content,” “AI,” and “tool,” are my keywords, so they are all right.
But if a word that’s not your keyword is used that many times, it should be replaced or used less.
It also provides readability scores, but I don’t use it for that, as I get that from the Hemingway app. But the reading and speaking times it provides are helpful.

We writers have to deal with multiple factors while writing. We have to avoid plagiarism, remove AI, and improve readability simultaneously.
Paraphrasing is crucial, and we cannot rely on a single tool to paraphrase all our writings. Most of the time, I use multiple paraphrasing tools and compare the results; whichever I like the best makes it to the final draft.
Another tool that I use besides sentence rewriter and rewording is the paraphrasing tool. Like the other two, it is also free of charge and does not require any user data.
I cannot rank these three tools, but I can tell that all of them are accurate and make paraphrasing look easy. So, I will use the same paragraph I used with the rewording tool to see if this tool paraphrases it differently or not.
As you can see, the results are different. Now, it is upon me to use whichever I like the best.
Hence, it’s proof that paraphrasing using a paraphrasing tool is 100 times better than giving a prompt to ChatGPT or Gemini to rephrase your content.
AI will help with content writing, but human creativity and ideas are still important. It’s a tool, not a complete replacement for writers.
In 2024, writers will use AI to work faster, but human creativity and storytelling will stay key. AI will support, not replace, writers.
AI won’t replace writers anytime soon. It helps with tasks, but AI can’t fully copy human creativity and emotions.
As we've explored, there are plenty of alternatives to ChatGPT and Gemini for content writers in 2024-2025. Each tool offers unique features and capabilities to fulfill different aspects of the content creation process.
Whether you're looking for help with ideation, writing, editing, or SEO optimization, there's likely a tool here that can enhance your workflow.
Remember, the key to successfully incorporating AI into your writing process is to view these tools as assistants rather than replacements.
As you explore these options, consider your specific needs, budget, and the type of content you typically create. Don't be afraid to try out multiple tools.
Ultimately, the best AI writing tool for you will be the one that seamlessly integrates into your workflow and makes it more efficient.
As AI technology evolves, stay curious and open to new possibilities. The future of content writing is here, and it's more exciting than ever.
